Online Virtual Private Piano Lessons
What makes private piano lessons at Samara Rice Music different? Samara Rice Music teaches engaging and play-based piano lessons specifically designed for students ages 8-18. A wide variety of music games, books, technology, and materials are utilized to tailor each lesson to the student’s exact interest and needs. Samara continuously improves her teaching though exploring the most innovative lesson and supplemental book series, attending workshops, and maintaining memberships with local and national professional music organizations.
Do we need to own a piano? Yes, students taking private piano lessons should own a piano or 88-weighted-key digital piano to practice at home. Recommended digital pianos are the Yamaha P-series or the Casio Privia series. A list of local piano tuners is available on the Current Students page. Or feel free to email SamaraMusicLessons[@]gmail.com for assistance.
What days and times are you available? Private piano lessons are available by appointment Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please email SamaraMusicLessons[@]gmail.com for current availability.
How many piano lessons are included each week? Lessons are typically held once per week following the yearly studio calendar.
Yearly tuition is based on a 9 month period (Sept-May) and does not change regardless of the number of lessons per month.
Summer session is billed separately, and is required if continuing in the fall.
What if we need to miss a piano lesson? An occasional missed lesson has already been factored into the even monthly lesson tuition. Please let the instructor know that the student will be missing the lesson.

Please submit monthly purchase orders for the entire semester (Fall: Sept-Dec and Spring: Jan-May) at least two weeks before the semester begins.
What if we need to discontinue piano lessons or take a break? Every student stops taking lessons at some point. Please make this decision thoughtfully with plenty of discussion between the teacher, parent, and student so that lessons can conclude with a positive sense of closure. Because tuition includes much more than the reserved lesson time the studio requires a one-month written and paid notice before the semester ends. The student must finish the remainder of the semester paid in full or forego any unused lessons, as there is no refund given (i.e. Fall Semester: one month notice by Dec. 1st; Spring Semester: one month notice by May 1st). If appropriate, a parent/student teacher conference may be scheduled before the last lesson to establish if this might be a temporary setback that can be resolved.
When is private piano lesson tuition due? Tuition is due on the 1st of each month via auto-pay. There is a 3-day grace period to turn in tuition without penalty. If payment is more than 3 days late, a $15.00 per student late penalty will be added to the invoice. Furthermore, if tuition payments are late more than twice, the student will be asked to pay the full semester’s tuition in advance.
